What Is A Forex Currency Broker?

What is a Forex currency broker?  In the fast-paced life of the Forex international currency market, a Forex currency broker assists the investor with the executions of currency trades.  Unlike the typical stock broker, a currency broker or Forex broker can function in ways that are not heard of in the stock market.  In cases where a Forex
currency broker is acting as a market maker they do not even charge commissions.  This is because in the case of market maker Forex currency brokers, they broker is negotiating not just one side of the transaction, but both.  Meaning they will execute the sale of one currency, and they themselves possess the cross currency being exchanged.  Market maker brokers obtain their income by getting paid the spread on a currency transaction, the difference in amounts between a sale and purchase price.  An example of this spread is the advertised currency exchange rates seen online and in banks and airports across the world.  The selling price of a currency is always lower than what they will purchase it for.  In this way there exists a gap which Forex currency brokers can take when they are not acting as just an agent in a currency transaction, but the principal, meaning a market maker.

Forex Currency Brokers Today

In today’s Forex market, much as is the case in the other major stock markets of the world, there is less and less importance placed on getting a Forex currency broker.  While clearly there are advantages to having a knowledgeable and experienced Forex currency broker on your side while navigating the volatile waters of the Forex market, with today’s technology they are less utilized.  Today a Forex market trader can use Forex trading software and a host of other online tools and gadgets to essentially trade currencies just like the big hitters.
