What Is Online Forex Trading?

What is online Forex trading? Online Forex trading involves using currency trading software and the internet to interface with the Forex market to make currency trades. This process is used the world over by single investors as well as banks and brokerage firms. Much like the internet has revolutionized how stocks are bought and sold in the major markets of the world; it too has changed forever the face of the Forex market. In decades past the principle use of the Forex market was to exchange currency between foreign governments, large banks, and corporations negotiating overseas transactions. Today these massive entities have been pushed to the side as the majority of currency transactions on the Forex market are placed by investors. These Forex market investors, typically trading currency online exclusively, don’t seek to take possession of these traded currencies, but merely make profits by speculating on their fluctuations in value. It is estimated that online Forex trading by investors now accounts for between 70-90% of all Forex market currency trades.

The Necessity Of Being Online: Forex Market

In the Forex market the advent of the internet and the subsequent trading of currency online was not just born out of convenience, but rather of necessity. The Forex market is open 24 hours per day from Monday through Friday. This constant operation facilitates trades on the Forex across global time zones. It also makes it nearly impossible for manual transactions such as those still seen in some major stock markets. The digital age of online Forex trading not only makes trading more convenient, it allows more investors into the game by giving anyone access to any trade anywhere on the globe at any hour of the day while the Forex market operates.
